Every autumn and spring, Almaty residents bring boots, sneakers, and shoes to workshops. In 2025, the average bill for shoe repair in the city increased by 15% due to rising material costs, but demand did not drop — people realized that a good pair is easier to repair than to find a replacement. We at the atelier «Azhur» (Birzhan St., 4 k2) have been repairing shoes for 8 years and know when repair is beneficial and when it is not.
The most common order is replacing heel tips. If only the heel is worn, there's no need to replace the entire sole. We install polyurethane heel tips — they last 3–4 months with daily wear. Price — from 1500 ₸ per pair. Sole protection (applying a thin layer of rubber) extends the life of boots by a year, costs from 3000 ₸.
Zippers are the weak point of winter footwear. If the slider splits or teeth crumble, we replace the entire zipper. On high boots, the work takes 2–3 days, price — from 4000 ₸. We use YKK zippers — they break less often.
Leather toe worn through to holes? Lining worn out? We select a patch matching the leather color or install a new lining made of natural suede. Cost — from 3500 ₸. If the damage is larger than 3 cm, replacing the entire part may be needed — from 6000 ₸.
A good master works with polyurethane, thermoplastic rubber (TPU), and natural leather. If they offer 'universal glue' for the sole — run. At «Azhur», we use only professional Bostik glue and lavsan threads — they don't rot from moisture.
We give a 30-day warranty on heel tip and zipper replacements. If a heel tip falls off earlier — we'll redo it for free. The average workshop in Almaty doesn't offer a warranty, so check in advance.
Quality repair requires a leather sewing machine (like Juki or Pfaff), a heel tip press, and shoe lasts. If the master works on a household machine — the seam will be weak. We use industrial equipment, so the seam lasts for years.
Simple heel tip replacement — 1 day. Zipper replacement on boots — 2–3 days. If the lining needs to be replaced or the entire sole replaced — from 5 days. Urgent repair (within 1 day) costs 50% more.
Natural leather takes longer to repair than faux leather — it's harder to match color and texture. Patent leather is more difficult to glue, so the price is 20% higher. Sports shoes with mesh are tricky to weld — often it's easier to replace the entire sole.
In autumn and spring, orders peak. In October 2025, the queue for repairs at Azhur reached 10 days. In summer and winter, workload is lower, and turnaround times drop to 1–2 days. Plan your repair in advance if you need your shoes by a specific date.
| Type of work | What’s included | Time | From, ₸ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heel tip replacement | Remove old tips, install polyurethane ones, sand | 1 day | 1500 |
| Sole preventive maintenance | Apply rubber sole patch, trim, sand | 1 day | 3000 |
| Zipper Replacement | Remove old zipper, install new YKK, check operation | 2–3 days | 4000 |
| Upper repair (patch) | Match leather, cut, glue, stitch | 2–3 days | 3500 |
| Full sole replacement | Remove old sole, match new one, glue, stitch | 5 days | 8000 |
A pair of leather shoes costing 60,000 ₸ will last 5–7 years with regular repairs. Replacing heel tips every season (1,500 ₸ × 2 times a year) and preventive maintenance (3,000 ₸ every two years) will cost 6,000–9,000 ₸ per year. A new similar pair costs 60,000 ₸. The savings are obvious.
A torn seam, detached sole, broken zipper — that's 2,000–5,000 ₸. New shoes cost 10–20 times more. Even if the repair costs 10,000 ₸, it's cheaper than buying new.
In Almaty, it's hard to find size 46 shoes or narrow lasts. If your pair fits perfectly, repair is the only sensible option. At Azhur, we repair shoes of all sizes and shapes, preserving the fit.
After rain or snow, don't place shoes on a radiator — the leather will crack. Use wooden shoe trees or newspaper. Electric dryers with UV lamps kill fungus and dry in 4–6 hours.
Treat leather shoes once a month with wax cream. Suede — with a water-repellent spray. This prevents cracking and extends sole life. We sell professional products at the atelier.
If the tip wears down to the metal part of the heel, repair will cost more — the entire heel must be replaced. Check tips every 2–3 months. Timely replacement costs 1,500 ₸, not 5,000 ₸.
Shoe repair in Almaty is cost-effective if the shoes are high-quality and the damage is local. Average repair cost: 1,500 to 8,000 ₸, turnaround: 1 to 5 days. To avoid overpaying, choose a workshop with a guarantee, industrial equipment, and professional materials. Extend shoe life with proper drying and timely heel tip replacement. I've been using Azhur atelier's services for a long time, but this time I came with a special problem. My favorite high-heeled shoes, which I wore to a friend's wedding, had completely worn out at the toes. I thought they were beyond saving, but I decided to give it a try. Master Elena Tsoi immediately reassured me, saying everything was possible. She carefully matched the leather color, and in three days I got my shoes back like new. Even the color matched perfectly, although I was afraid the patch would be visible. Elena explained that they use special glue and paint that don't damage the material. Now I can wear my shoes again, and no one notices they were repaired. I'm very grateful for the professionalism and attention to detail. By the way, the price was quite reasonable — 3,500 tenge. I'll definitely come again if something happens to my other shoes.

I ordered boots from AliExpress, but the sole was glued on with superglue and started coming off after just a month. I had to find a workshop. At Azhur, master Sergey Kim looked at them and said they needed to be professionally reglued with treatment. He removed the old sole, cleaned it, glued it with a special compound, and even stitched the edge for durability. I was really worried the boots would fall apart, but Sergey explained it's a standard procedure. In the end, I've been wearing them for six months—everything's great, even better than before. The only downside was having to wait three days instead of the promised two, but the master warned that more time was needed for the glue to dry. But the quality is excellent, price 5000 tenge. I recommend it, especially Sergey—he's a true pro.
I had a problem with my favorite winter boots—the zipper broke completely. Not just the pull tab came off, but the zipper itself split. At the Azhur atelier, master Timur Ospanov said the whole zipper needed to be replaced because the old one was worn out. I agreed, even though it wasn't cheap—4500 tenge. Timur carefully matched the zipper color so it wouldn't differ from the original. The work took two days. Now the boots are like new, the zipper runs smoothly. I was even surprised that such a quality replacement was possible. The only thing is, at first the master seemed a bit gruff, but then he became friendlier. In the end, everything's great, thanks to Timur for the quality repair. I'll recommend it to friends.
I decided to get my fitness sneakers repaired—the sole was worn down to holes at the heel. I was about to throw them away, but a friend recommended Azhur. Master Andrey An looked at them and said the sole could be built up with special rubber. I was skeptical at first, but he showed me examples of his work—it looked good. After four days, I picked them up, and indeed the sole was like new, even thicker than before. I feel confident during workouts, nothing slips. True, there was a slight rubber smell on the first day, but it faded. The work cost 3800 tenge, which is cheaper than new sneakers. Andrey was polite and explained in detail how to care for them. I'll definitely come back.

I brought in hiking boots for repair—the sole was peeling off at the front. At the Azhur atelier, master Aigerim Nurlanova took the order and said it would be done in two days. But when I came to pick them up, the sole wasn't fully glued—there was a small gap. Aigerim apologized and immediately re-did it on the spot; I had to wait an hour. In the end, everything's fine, the gap is gone, the glue is strong. I'm satisfied, though there's a slight bad taste. But the master was very polite and offered a 10% discount on the next repair. So I'll give it a 4, but I recommend it—you can see they try. Price 3000 tenge.
I had a very delicate job—needed to replace heel tips on patent leather shoes. I was afraid they'd ruin the finish. At Azhur, master Olga Pak reassured me, saying they work with patent leather often. She carefully removed the old tips without damaging the patent leather and put on new ones made of quality polyurethane. The shoes look perfect, you can't even tell they've been repaired. Olga also advised on how to care for patent leather shoes. Very satisfied, price 2500 tenge. I'll definitely come back to her. Now I'll recommend it to my friends.
I wore my favorite suede ankle boots for three seasons, but the sole wore down to holes. I thought about throwing them away, but decided to try repairing them at Azhur. Master Yelena Tsoi examined the shoes and said she could put a new heel cap and sole. They replaced them in two days, perfectly matching the rubber. Now the boots are like new, not even slippery. I'm so glad I didn't throw them away. They also fixed the zipper on the left boot, even though I only asked for the sole. Service is top-notch. The price came to 4500 tenge, quite reasonable for such work.

I had leather moccasins that I wore for several years. The leather cracked at the crease and a hole appeared. I thought repair wouldn't help, but at Azhur the master said they could replace the piece of leather with an insert. I handed them over, and after a week I picked them up—the insert was perfectly matched, the stitches were neat, the color matched. Now the moccasins look as good as new.
Remont baletok: nado bylo smenit podoshvu. Otdala Elene Tsoy, ona podskazala kakoy material luchshe. Vse ochen krasivo i deshevo, 2500 tenge.
They repaired the sole on winter boots. Sergey Kim suggested putting polyurethane—now they don't leak and are warmer. Highly recommend!

I had running sneakers that I bought last year, but the mesh on top ripped. At first I wanted to buy new ones, but I remembered the Azhur atelier. I gave them to master Sergey Kim. He suggested gluing the mesh with special glue and applying a patch from the inside. Done in a day, the seam is almost invisible. Now I wear the sneakers every day, everything holds. The only downside was having to wait longer than the promised hour, but the result was worth it. The master explained that mesh is tricky to repair. In the end, I was satisfied.
I brought worn-out shoes to Aigerim Nurlanova after two years. She replaced the heel and dyed the leather. Now they're no worse than new. I really liked it.
My favorite leather boots wore out at the toe—the leather was rubbed down to holes. I thought they couldn't be saved, but master Aigerim Nurlanova at Azhur suggested making a patch from natural leather and painting it with dye. The result exceeded expectations: the patch is almost invisible, the color matched perfectly. The boots now look even better than before the wear. Aigerim was very attentive and explained in detail how to care for the shoes. Price 6000 tenge—not cheap, but for such work it's worth it. Now I recommend this atelier to all my friends.

I ordered a zipper replacement on boots. It was done well, but I had to wait a day longer than promised. Overall, I'm satisfied with the result.
The heel broke off on autumn boots, almost completely detached. I came to Azhur, master Andrey An said it could be glued back with special glue and secured with a pin. It was done quickly—within an hour. But after a week, the heel came loose again slightly, so I had to return. Andrey re-did it for free, saying the glue didn't set the first time due to humidity. After the redo, everything's fine, but there's a lingering bad taste. Otherwise, the service is good, the staff is polite. I'll give it a 4, because the redo wouldn't have been necessary with better quality control.
I gave sneakers for stitching. The seam on the toe burst. Timur Ospanov neatly stitched everything, matched the thread color. They wear great. Price 3500 tenge.

The soles of my autumn boots were worn out. Timur Ospanov repaired them quickly. Many thanks, now I'll wear them for a few more seasons.
The sole of my shoe was cracked. I brought it to the atelier, they repaired it in two days. Very high quality, I recommend it.
I had favorite stiletto pumps, but one heel cracked. I was very upset because the shoes were expensive. I took them to 'Azhur' to master Timur Ospanov. He said a metal pin could be inserted to reinforce the heel. It was done in two days, and the heel is now stronger than before.

I brought my favorite sandals for heel tip replacement. They did it quickly in two days, like new. Now they don't slip. Thank you!
I brought heeled shoes I bought for a friend's wedding, but after the first evening the heel tips wore off. At 'Azhur', master Timur Ospanov recommended polyurethane heel tips instead of regular ones—they are wear-resistant. I picked them up in three days; the heels became a couple of millimeters higher, but I walk confidently. Price 2000 tenge per pair. They also fixed the clasp—it was sticking. Now the shoes are like new. I'll come again.
Prinesla tufelki na remont — kabluk otvalilsia. Otdala Olge Pak, ona vse sdelala za tri dnja. Kabluk derzhitsia otlichno, spasibo!

I bought expensive sneakers, but after a month the sole came unglued at the front on one sneaker. I was afraid to glue it myself, so I took them to 'Azhur'. Master Olga Pak examined them and said they needed to be stitched around the perimeter to be sure. It was done in three days, the stitch is neat and not felt inside the sneakers. Six months have passed, and the sole holds perfectly. They also put heel grips on for free to prevent rubbing. Very nice. The cost was 3500 tenge. I'll definitely return if something happens to other shoes.
Zakazyval proshivku krossovok. Sdelali horosho, no prishlos dvazhdy utochniat sroki. No v itoge vse ravno dovolen, kachestveno.
I brought winter boots for repair: the sole was separating from the upper almost all around. I thought it would be easier to buy new ones, but I decided to try to save money. At 'Azhur', master Elena Tsoi took on the job. She not only glued but also stitched for reliability. The boots are now warm and waterproof.

My son tore his sneakers during PE class—the seam on the toe came apart. He brought them to 'Azhur', master Sergey Kim said he would stitch with strong thread. It was done in a day, the seam is even, the thread doesn't stick out. My son has been wearing the sneakers for a month, everything holds. Price 1500 tenge—very cheap.
